MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan closes the month of October by welcoming Bowling Green to Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live through the CMU Sports Zone on CMUChippewas.com. The CMU Sports Network's radio broadcast can be heard over the air across the state and online at CMUChippewas.com.
CMU is seeking its third straight win over the Falcons, which would match its longest winning streak in the series since 1993-95. The Chippewas won at Bowling Green, 24-10, last season. The teams last met in Mount Pleasant in 2006; CMU won that contest 31-14.
Recent history has seen the Chippewas experience a great deal of success against the Mid-American Conference's East Division. CMU is 18-2 in its last 20 games against East Division opponents and 18-1 in its last 19 games against MAC teams from the state of Ohio. The Chippewas, however, are 0-2 against the East Division this season with losses to Temple and Miami, currently tied for second in the division standings.
Bowling Green features two of the top yardage gainers in the MAC in senior receiver Tyrone Pronty and junior receiver Kamar Jorden. Pronty ranks second in the conference in all-purpose yardage, averaging 141.3 yards per game, while Jorden leads the MAC in receptions (67) and ranks second in receiving yards (733). Jorden ranks in the top 15 nationally in receptions, yards and yards per game.
Defensively, the Falcons feature the MAC's top tackler in sophomore linebacker Dwayne Woods. He leads the conference in total tackles (91) and tackles per game (11.4); Woods is fourth nationally in total tackles and eighth in tackles per game.
CMU brings one of the MAC's top passing offenses into Saturday's matchup. The Chippewas rank second in the league in both total yardage (399.1 ypg) and passing (282.5 ypg), and sophomore quarterback Ryan Radcliff has thrown for 295 or more yards in four of CMU's first eight games. He ranks fourth nationally in total passing yards, and his 181 completions and 2,210 passing yards are eighth and 10th most, respectively, in a single season in school history.
Eight different Chippewas have caught at least 10 passes this season, with sophomore Cody Wilson's 46 catches and 696 receiving yards leading the team.
Senior linebacker Nick Bellore will make his 50th consecutive start in the maroon and gold on Saturday. His 445 career tackles are the most of any active player in the NCAA Bowl Subdivision, and he is just 45 tackles shy of matching Brian Leigeb's school record of 490 career stops.
The Chippewas close the home schedule next Friday, Nov. 5, when they host Western Michigan in a nationally televised matchup.
