MOUNT PLEASANT -- No. 1 Kent State defeated No. 2 Miami 3-2 Saturday in the championship game of the 2010 Mid-American Conference tournament at the CMU Field Hockey Complex on Saturday.
The RedHawks (14-7) opened the scoring at the 44:44 mark on an Amanda Seeley pass to Kylie Landeros. The Golden Flashes (15-6) evened the score five minutes later on an unassisted goal by Rachel Miller, but the RedHawks regained the lead on an Emily Gruesser goal 53:13 into the contest.
KSU's Debbie Bell answered just 31 seconds later, deflecting a shot from Rebecca Lee, and Bell would score once more with 2:21 left to give the Golden Flashes the lead for the first time in the game.
Sarah Mueller stopped four shots in the goal for the RedHawks, while Caroline Suitch knocked aside five shots for the Golden Flashes.
