State Farm Scholar-Athlete of the Week - Katie Simon

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Katie Simon of the CMU gymnastics program is this week's State Farm Scholar-Athlete of the Week.


The Bristol, Wis. native won the all-around with a season-best score of 39.175 at the State of Michigan Classic on Sunday. Her score helped lead CMU to a season-best score of 194.975 and the team title at the event that included CMU, No. 21 Michigan State, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. Simon scored 9.7 or better on all four events. She won the balance beam with a season-best score of 9.8 and finished tied for second on the bars (9.775), tied for fourth on the floor (9.825) and tied for sixth on the vault (9.775).
Simon, a therapeutic recreation major, maintains a 3.53 grade-point average.
