Football Program Names 2009 Award Winners

MOUNT PLEASANT - Quarterback Dan LeFevour was named Central Michigan's 2009 Most Valuable Player at the football program's postseason awards banquet on Sunday.
LeFevour also was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year and the Kurt Dobronski Award winner. The Dobronski Award is given annually by senior players to the CMU senior who demonstrates great effort, intensity and appreciation for the CMU football program. The award is named for two-time All-MAC linebacker Kurt Dobronski who died in the crash of Northwest Airlines Flight 255 in 1987.
Nick Bellore was named 2009 Defensive Player of the Year and Antonio Brown Special Teams Player of the Year. Both won the respective awards for the second consecutive season.
LeFevour capped one of the most decorated careers in college football history in 2009. He was named the Mid-American Conference's Vern Smith Award winner, MAC Offensive Player of the Year and first team All-MAC last season, along with being selected as MVP of the MAC Championship Game and the GMAC Bowl.
LeFevour holds the NCAA Bowl Subdivision record for total touchdowns (150) and ranks second in Bowl Subdivision history in total offense (12,905 total yards).
Bellore earned All-MAC first team honors after leading the team in total tackles (132) and tackles for loss (13.0) last season. Bellore enters his senior season with 382 career tackles, seventh most in school history and just 108 short of the CMU career record.
Brown repeated as MAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2009. He returned two punts and one kickoff for touchdowns last season while also catching a school-record 110 passes for 1,198 yards and nine touchdowns. Brown finished his career with 305 receptions, a school record and the second most in MAC history.
