MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan capped the second week of spring football practice with a two-hour session at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday morning.
An extended 11-on-11 session near the end of practice highlighted Saturday's workout. The Chippewas worked various down-and-distance situations, goalline situations and the two-minute drill.
"The first thing we wanted to do was get the coaches up in the box and start working the tempos and the sideline organization as it will be on Saturdays, so we had a chance to do that," said CMU head coach Dan Enos. "And, we want to see the guys out there without coaches on the field telling them where to line up and where to go. We want to see who can line up and make plays, and we want to put these quarterbacks in as many different situations as we can. It was a great period for us today."
CMU is one-third of the way through the spring practice season, and just three weeks remain until the Chippewas' annual spring game on April 17.
"We're seeing a lot of good things," Enos said. "We're seeing guys make a lot of improvement, and we're seeing them get more comfortable with the systems. I told the team after practice that we're getting better. The effort has been very good, and we've been pretty physical in practice."
The Chippewas return to the practice field Tuesday morning. The team is scheduled to practice on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week.
