Three Chippewas Earn All-MAC Honors

AKRON, Ohio — Three members of the Central Michigan softball team earned spots on the Mid-American Conference postseason squads, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Infielder Jill Schulz (Livonia, Mich./Livonia Ladywood HS) earned first-team All-MAC honors while pitcher Kari Seddon (St. Clair,. Mich./St. Clair HS) was a second-team All-MAC selection. Fellow pitcher Kara Dornbos (Hudsonville, Mich./Unity Christian HS) also received postseason honors as a member of the MAC All-Freshman team.
Schulz, a senior, is second on the Chippewas with a .331 average and 26 RBI. She led all CMU batters with a .365 average and eight doubles in MAC play while playing a nearly flawless first base (one error in 277 chances). This is the first time that she has earned All-MAC honors in her career.
Seddon, a junior, is an All-MAC honoree for the second time in her career. She returned to the circle after missing all of last season to post a 2.55 ERA and strike out a team-high 146 batters in 143 innings. She earned her 16th win of the season on Wednesday by defeating Ohio in the first round of the MAC Tournament.
Dornbos led the CMU staff with a 2.09 ERA in 120 and a third innings. She struck out 80 batters while walking only 33 in 22 appearances (18 starts). The freshman sports a 10-5 record and has a team-high two saves this season.
The Chippewas return to action on Thursday when they face Kent State in the second round of the MAC Tournament.
