Hampton Game Notes

With the 33-0 victory Thursday vs. Hampton, Dan Enos became the first CMU coach since Herb Deromedi (1978) to win his debut. The win is CMU's sixth straight win dating back to last season. It also marks CMU's fourth straight win in a home opener.
The shutout was the first in a season opener since a 10-0 win versus Western Michigan (1979). It was also the first time Hampton was shutout since 1984.
Mike Ball, a four year letterman (1976-79) and All-MAC First Team Honoree in 1979, joined senior captains Nick Bellore, Kito Poblah and Collin Miller as an honorary captain prior to Thursday's game.
Senior linebackerer Nick Bellore's start versus Hampton extended his streak of consecutive starts to 42. Bellore has started every game during his tenure at CMU.
Sophomores Ryan Radcliff, Joe Kinville, Ceasar Rodriguez, Jahleel Addae, Jerry Harris and Alex Smith each made their first career starts for the Chippewas.
The Chippewas' safety in the first quarter was the team's first safety since 2003 vs. Eastern Kentucky.
Cody Wilson's 81-yard kick return following the CMU safety in the first quarter was a career long. Wilson's return set up a 2-yard touchdown by senior running back Carl Volny, the fourth of his career.
Freshman kicker Paul Mudgett's extra point in the first quarter was his first career attempt and make. His 29-yard field goal in the third quarter was also a career first. Mudgett finished the game 4-4 on extra points, while going 1-4 on field goal attempts.
Shamari Benton's forced fumble during a first quarter kickoff was his first career forced fumble and tackle.
Senior receiver Kito Poblah's 12-yard catch in the first quarter extended his consecutive games streak with a catch to 25. Poblah's reception in the fourth quarter moved him into ninth place on CMU's career receptions list (114) passing Rob Turner (1999-2002).
Sophomore defensive ends Joe Kinville and Ceasar Rodriguez each recorded their first career sacks in the second quarter. Rodriguez claimed his second sack of the game in the third quarter.
Bobby Seay Jr's second quarter interception was the second of his career.
Sophomore quarterback Ryan Radcliff threw his first touchdown in the second quarter on an 8-yard completion to Cody Wilson. Radcliff set career highs in completions (20), attempts (34), passing yards (242), a long of 39-yards and rushing attempts (seven). He added a 2-yard sneak in the fourth quarter, the second of his career.
Sophomore receiver Jerry Harris' 26-yard reception in the second quarter set a new career long as well as a career high for receptions in a game (two). He also set a career high for total receiving yards (27).
Caesar Rodriguez's forced fumble in the second quarter was the first of his career.
Nick Bellore recorded his tenth tackle of the game in the third quarter. Bellore finished the game with 11 tackles, making it the 20th game of his career he has recorded 10-plus tackles.
Sophomore Cody Wilson's 16-yard reception in the third quarter tied his career high in receptions (four). Wilson also set a new career high in receiving yards (47) and tied a career high for touchdowns (one) with his second quarter reception.
Sophomore running back Paris Cotton's 28-yard rush in the third quarter was the longest of his career. Cotton set new career highs in rushing attempts (18), yards (94), receptions (three), yards (31) and longest reception (19). He tied a career high in rushing touchdowns (one).

Junior quarterback Derek Rifenbury completed his first collegiate pass to Kito Poblah, a 10-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
