Central Michigan at Akron - October 29, 2011
Central Michigan has won five straight in the series and four straight matchups at Akron.
The Chippewas are now 19-3 in their last 22 games against MAC East Division opponents.
CMU also is 19-3 in its last 22 games against opponents from the state of Ohio. CMU also has won nine of its last 10 games played in the state of Ohio.
The Chippewas have won seven of their last eight one-point games dating back to 1996.
Kevin Henry made his first career start on Saturday. Henry was in the lineup at right tackle. Henry is the 18th different Chippewa to make his first career start in 2011.
True freshman Courtney Williams scored CMU's first touchdown on a 27-yard catch-and-run in the first quarter. It was his third touchdown catch on just his eighth career reception.
David Harman converted a career-high three field goals against Akron. He stretched to 10 his streak of consecutive field goals made.
Cody Wilson extended to 28 his streak of consecutive games played with a reception.
Anthony Garland's 58-yard run in the final minute of the first half was the longest run of his career and CMU's second longest rush in 2011.
John Carr's interception in the end zone in the first half was the first interception of his career.
On seven first-half possessions, the CMU defense forced Akron into six punts and intercepted a pass. The Zips had 77 net yards on 32 offensive plays in the first half.
Anthony Garland scored his first career touchdown on a 26-yard run on the opening drive of the third quarter.
Anthony Garland ran for a career-high 141 yards on 19 carries. It was his first career 100-yard game. He is the third different Chippewa to run for at least 100 yards in a game this season.
Anthony Garland is the first CMU freshman to rush for 100 yards in a game since Ontario Sneed ran for 183 yards in a 31-17 win at Akron in 2005.
Ryan Radcliff moved to third on CMU's career passing yardage list (5,848), fifth on the career attempts list (809) and a tie for fourth on the career touchdown passes list (34). He also moved into fourth on the career total offense list (5,761 yards).
Cody Wilson moved into a tie for seventh on CMU's career receptions list (155).
Ryan Radcliff also moved into the top 10 on several CMU single-season lists: passing yards (ninth; 2,375), passing attempts (10th; 322), completions (ninth; 185), touchdown passes (tied for seventh; 17) and total offense (10th; 2,339).
