Taylor Waters (Romeo, Mich./Romeo HS), Michelle Dornan (Grand Haven, Mich./Allendale HS), Evelyn Lorimer (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS) and Katelyn Rentschler (Etiwanda, Calif./Etiwanda HS) will join the Chippewas in the fall of 2012.
"The 2012 recruiting class is one that will bring excitement to our team," commented Jonker. "As a group they have the combination of foot speed and power. They play the positions we need depth in. Each brings passion and a love for the game. It will be exciting to watch them progress throughout their softball careers as Chippewas."
Below are the bios on the newest Chippewas:
| Taylor Waters Romeo, Mich./Romeo High School/Vengeance Fastpitch travel team Outfield Right/Left High School: Waters is a three-year varsity player... her freshman year was named All-Macomb County First Team and all-conference first team... earned academic all-state, All-Macomb County Team Academic Honors, all-conference first team, All-Macomb County First Team and all district second team during her sophomore season... named academic all-state, All-Macomb County Team of the Year, Macomb Area Red Conference Champions, All-Macomb County First Team, all-conference first team, all-district first team and all-region first team during her junior campaign. Jonker on Waters: "Taylor is a speedster who loves to play this game. She is a slapper who will put pressure on the defense, steal bases, as well as run the outfield to flag balls down. She finds a way to play as many games as possible, including hooking up with another travel ball team if her team is off for a weekend so she can compete and hone her skills." | |
| Michelle Dornan Grand Haven, Mich./Allendale High School First base or third base Right/Right High School: Dornan has played for USA Fastball, Shoreline Devils, Grand Rapids Diamonds, West Michigan Sabercats and Morgan's Softball travel teams... in 2009 she made all-conference, all-district, all-region, voted team MVP, was a scholar athlete and finished second in all-area home runs... in 2010 she was named all-conference, all-district, all-region, voted team MVP, a scholar athlete and first team all-area pitching... in 2011 she made all-conference, all-district and was named first team all-area first base. Jonker on Dornan: "We found Dornan at one of our clinics we had on campus. She was noticed as she hit the ball as hard if not harder, than anyone we had previously seen in our clinics. She has the potential to set power marks at CMU in the future." | |
| Evelyn Lorimer High School: Lorimer earned first team all-conference, first team all-area, first team all-district and first team all-region during her sophomore and junior seasons... earned all-state honorable mention at first base in 2011. Jonker on Lorimer: "Lorimer has the combination of foot speed and power. She can get on by putting a bunt down, or can hit for power. She is unique as she is a true lefty. She is versatile in that she can play either outfield or first base. She will challenge for playing time immediately." | |

| Katelyn Rentschler High School: Rentschler finished her junior season ranked as the 69th player in the nation and the 30th ranked in the state of California... won the league championship all three years she has played, and were CIF SS State Champions in 2009. Jonker on Rentschler: "Rentschler is an accomplished catcher both behind the plate and at the plate. She has played top-level travel ball, and has a gun which will enable her to keep runners at bay. She hits for average and power. She will help shore up our catching position; now we will have a junior and a freshman at that spot who can lead the team." |
