MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Former Central Michigan University football standout Antonio Brown will be back in Mount Pleasant Saturday, March 19 for a charity event benefiting the P.E.A.K. program.
Brown, a current member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be signing autographs and posing for photos from 2-4:30 p.m. at O'Kelley's and the Wayside. Free finger foods will be provided as fans have a chance to watch a replay of Super Bowl XLV.
No cost is associated with autographs or photos, but funds will be raised through the sale of autographed merchandise, memorabilia and silent auction items. One-hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Partners Empowering All Kids program. Donations to P.E.A.K. will also be accepted.
Brown recently completed his rookie season with the Steelers, falling to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV. Brown caught 21 passes in the regular season and playoffs combined, including a 58-yard reception on third-and-19 to set up the game-winning touchdown in Pittsburgh's 31-24 win over Baltimore in the AFC Divisional Playoffs. In his NFL debut, Brown returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown in the Steelers' 19-11 win over Tennessee on Sept. 19.
Brown was a sixth round draft pick by the Steelers in 2010 after declaring for the draft following his junior season at CMU. Brown is CMU's all-time leader with 305 receptions, and he ranks second in school history in touchdown receptions (22) and third in receiving yards (3,199). He was named Mid-American Conference Special Teams Player of the Year as a sophomore and junior.
