MOUNT PLEASANT — For the third time this season, junior Molly Coldren has been named the Mid-American Conference's West Division Player of the Week.
Coldren (West Bloomfield, Mich./Notre Dame HS) continued to pad her resume as the best power hitter in Central Michigan history last week. The junior blasted home runs in wins versus Michigan State and Eastern Michigan, breaking her own single-season mark set a year ago.
The third-year shortstop finished the week with a .600 batting average (6-for-10) with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored, while adding two doubles for a 1.400 slugging percentage. Coldren is now batting .411 on the year, fourth in the MAC, while her 13 home runs lead the conference.
Coldren and the Chippewas wrap up the regular season when they host Buffalo on Friday and Kent State over the weekend in key MAC games.
