MOUNT PLEASANT - Former Central Michigan receiver Kito Poblah was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the first round of the Canadian Football League Supplemental Draft on Monday.
The Blue Bombers forfeited their first-round pick in the 2012 draft in order to select Poblah in the 2011 supplemental draft.
Poblah ranks eighth in CMU history in career receptions (154), ninth in receiving yards (1,908) and tied for seventh in touchdown receptions (15). He caught at least one pass in each of the final 36 games of his career.
In Winnipeg, Poblah will be reunited with his cousin and former CMU teammate, running back Carl Volny. Volny was a fifth-round selection by the Blue Bombers in the 2011 draft.
Four other former Chippewas currently are active in the Canadian Football League: linebacker Ike Brown (Hamilton Tiger-Cats), receiver Obed Cétoute (Saskatchewan Roughriders), defensive back Eric Fraser (Calgary Stampeders) and offensive lineman Greg Wojt (Edmonton Eskimos).
