MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan football fans have until the end of the week to guarantee themselves purchasing rights for the 2012 Michigan State matchup in Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
Fans who purchase 2011 season tickets by Friday, August 26, and purchase 2012 season tickets next summer, will be guaranteed the right to purchase additional tickets to the MSU game.
Central Michigan has experienced more than a 20 percent increase in football season tickets sales from 2010.
The substantial growth this summer includes 800 more season tickets sold compared to one year ago and can be attributed in part to the seven-game home schedule in 2012. The seven-game home schedule next year also includes Navy and Western Michigan.
"The Michigan State game will be a huge event for our program and the entire CMU community, and we have definitely seen an increase in ticket sales already," said Athletics Director Dave Heeke. "We always want to reward our most loyal fans - our season ticket holders - and we have been able to gain additional ticket holders in the process."
Season tickets for 2011 may be purchased by calling 888-FIRE-UP2 or by visiting Ticket Central Online.
"We can't overlook 2011 and the numbers tell us that interest for Chippewa football continues to be at an all-time high," said Heeke. "With our success over the past several years, some outstanding future schedules, and the tremendous value of the gameday experience, fans want to be part of the excitement and the momentum."
Central Michigan was one of just two Mid-American Conference schools to average 20,000 fans per game last year.
The Chippewas open the season Thursday, September 1 at 7 p.m.
