Chippewas Tabbed Fourth in MAC West in Preseason Poll

The defending MAC Tournament champions, Western Michigan, were picked first in the West and were chosen to claim this year's tournament title. The Broncos received nine first-place votes while Ball State received two and was voted in second. Northern Illinois was the only other team to receive a first-place vote in the division.
The Chippewas finished fifth in the MAC West in 2011, going 32-21 overall and 13-9 during league play. The Maroon and Gold return six starters for 2012.
In the East Division, the Miami RedHawks received 10 first-place votes, with the Kent State Golden Flashes receiving two.
The Chippewas start their season on February 17 when they travel to Tempe, Ariz., for three days. They will open MAC play on March 30 by traveling to Kent State.
