Chippewas Head West for Two Meets over Spring Break

MOUNT PLEASANT - After 12 days off from competition, the Central Michigan gymnastics program hits the road for a pair of meets on the west coast during the university's spring recess.
The Chippewas (11-3) will square off versus No. 24 Washington and San Jose State Friday evening in Seattle, Wash., before traveling to Sacramento, Calif., for a quad meet versus host Sacramento State, UC Davis and Seattle Pacific.
Friday evening's tri-meet will begin at 10 p.m. Eastern Time with Sunday afternoon's action starting at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Fantastic February
Senior Kristin Teubner had quite the month of February, posting a 39-plus all-around score in four-straight meets. She was twice named Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week and scored a 9.8 or better 11 times during the month. The reigning MAC Co-Gymnast of the Year continues to make a strong case to earn the award for the second straight season as well as MAC Senior of the Year.
1-2 Punch
Sophomore Brittany Petzold has continued to shine in her second season in the maroon and gold, complementing Teubner along the way. Petzold has posted a 39 or better all-around score three times this season and ranks first in the MAC in uneven bars average. Teubner and Petzold have posted the two highest all-around scores in the MAC this season, with Petzold's 39.300 versus Texas Woman's University on January 29.
MAC Regular Season Champs
The Chippewas claimed at least a share their second-straight MAC regular season title last time out, defeating Northern Illinois, 194.950-193.925. CMU's score was its highest of the season as it ran away with the meet in the final rotation, scoring a 49.000, as each gymnast scored a 9.750 or better. A meet with in-state foe Western Michigan is still slated for March 17 and the Chippewas can claim the regular season title outright with a victory over the Broncos.
27 and Counting
With their win over Northern Illinois two weeks ago, the Chippewas extended to 27 their streak of consecutive wins over MAC opponents. CMU has reeled off 15-straight regular season victories and claimed 12 postseason wins in the process of claiming the last two MAC Championships titles. Its last conference loss came on Feb. 13, 2010, against Kent State.
