MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan University’s Trista Cox has been named to the 2014 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District 5 Softball Team.
The team is selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America and it recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances in the classroom and in the athletic arena.
Cox, a junior infielder from Indianapolis, is a marketing major and carries a 3.80 grade point average. By earning All-District honors, Cox is eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors.
Cox leads the Chippewas in hitting (.340), runs (28), hits (50), RBI (34) and slugging percentage (.619), and shares the team lead with 10 home runs and is third on the squad with 11 doubles.
Student-athletes are selected from eight geographic regions across the United States and Canada and named to one of four divisional teams: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and College Division, which combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
Athletes selected to the All-District teams advance to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America ballot, and first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be named in late May.
