Chippewas Fall in OT at Air Force

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Brooke Rittman's unassisted goal nearly nine minutes into overtime lifted Air Force to a 3-2 victory over Central Michigan Friday in a non-league soccer match.
The loss, CMU's second consecutive, left the Chippewas 1-4-1. CMU plays Sunday at Colorado College (3-1-2). The Tigers defeated Oakland, 1-0, on Friday.
Laura Gosse and Kaylin Hoomaian scored for the Chippewas. Hoomaian's goal, unassisted on a free kick from 25 yards, with under seven minutes remaining in regulation tied it 2-2.
It was the first career goal for Hoomaian, a sophomore.
Gosse scored her team-leading third goal off the season late in the first half on a give-and-go with Emily Cooksey, staking the Chippewas to a 1-0 lead. It was the first assist of the season for Cooksey.
Angela Karamanos scored back-to-back goals - the first in the 63rd minute, the second in the 65th -- to give Air Force (2-3-0) a 2-1 advantage. Both goals came on headers off of Kristen Shimkus corner kicks.
Air Force outshot the Chippewas, 24-7, including 5-0 in overtime. The Falcons also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Maddy Bunnell made eight saves in goal for the Chippewas. Alex Kahalley made five saves for the Falcons.

"The goal she scored was on set piece," CMU coach Peter McGahey said. "She really struck it well to give us a chance."
