Mount Pleasant, Mich. - The Central Michigan softball team will get back into the swing of things with its fall ball season, starting Tuesday, Sept. 23 versus Northwood.
Tuesday's match-up with the Timberwolves will begin at 3 p.m. at Margo Jonker Stadium. Northwood finished the 2014 season with a 26-16 record.
The Chippewas will then head to Traverse City to compete in a round robin tournament on Sept. 27-28. Other tournament participants include Western Michigan, Oakland and Michigan. Central faced all three opponents last season, posting a 3-2 record. The Chippewas swept OU in a doubleheader, split with Western in the final home stand of the season and fell to a Michigan team that finished 2014 with a 47-15 record, won its seventh consecutive Big Ten title and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the 20th consecutive season.
Following the Traverse City tournament, CMU will host a double header against Ferris State on Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. to conclude the fall season. The Bulldogs posted a 13-20 record in 2014.
Head coach Margo Jonker enters her 35th season at the helm of the Chippewas, who finished 34-22 last season. The Maroon and Gold graduated six seniors but are joined by eight newcomers this year.
CMU will begin its 2015 campaign in early February.
