
Baseball Scout Day Set for Sunday at Theunissen

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Student-athletes from the Central Michigan baseball program will put their skills on display Sunday in front of professional scouts at Theunissen Stadium.
The Chippewas' annual Scout Day is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. An exhibition game follows at noon. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
"This day further develops our relationships that we have with our scouts in the area," CMU coach Steve Jaksa said. "It gives them a chance to see our new student-athletes as well as our veterans who have improved through summer leagues. It's a great opportunity to showcase our student-athletes as well as our program."
Scouts representing some 20 Major League Baseball organizations are expected to be on hand to evaluate prospective players at Theunissen Stadium.
The student-athletes will run a 60-yard dash followed by batting practice session for draft-eligible players. An extended infield session is also on the docket along with an exhibition game in which each draft-eligible pitchers will have an opportunity to throw at least one inning.
On Friday, Sept. 12, the Chippewas' International Game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CMU will take on the Ontario Blue Jays, one of the top age 18-under teams in Canada.
CMU's annual seven-game Fall World Series is scheduled to begin on Friday, Oct. 3, at 3:05 p.m. The remainder of the schedule: Sunday, Oct. 5, 1 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2:45 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 10, 3:05 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 11, noon; Sunday, Oct. 12, 1 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2:45 p.m.
