MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan senior defensive back Kavon Frazier was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week.
Frazier, a senior from Grand Rapids, blocked a punt during a key juncture in the Chippewas' 35-28 MAC victory over Eastern Michigan last week.
Frazier blocked an Eastern punt deep in Eagle territory with the Chippewas trailing, 21-14, in the third quarter. Central Michigan would score two plays later to tie the game. The Chippewas went on to victory to finish the regular season 7-5 and 6-2 in the MAC, which tied them for the top spot in the West Division.
It marks the second time this season that Frazier has been honored with league player of the week accolades. He was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week after a career-best 13-tackle effort in CMU's 24-13 season-opening loss to Oklahoma State.
Frazier, a starting safety, has notched 103 tackles including 69 unassisted, both team highs.
