Eight Chippewas Named All-MAC

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Eight Central Michigan student-athletes were named to the 2015 All-Mid-American Conference football team, which was released by the league office on Wednesday.
Central Michigan center Nick Beamish was named to the first team. It marked the second consecutive year that Beamish, a 6-foot-3, 310-pound senior from Riverview, earned a spot on the first team.
Beamish has started every game (50) since he arrived on campus as a freshman, and was named to the Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List prior to both the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Five Chippewas were named to the second team and two earned spots on the third team.
Quarterback Cooper Rush, tight end Ben McCord and placekicker Brian Eavey were named to the second team offense, while defensive end Blake Serpa and safety Kavon Frazier were named to the second team defense.
Wide receiver Jesse Kroll and tackle Ramadan Ahmeti were named to the third team offense.
Rush, a junior from Charlotte, has thrown for a CMU-record 3,703 yards this season, and ranks second in the MAC in that category. He has completed 67.2 percent of his passes, which also ranks second in the league, and has tossed 25 touchdown passes.
Rush ranks sixth nationally with an average of 25.75 pass completions per game, 10th in passing yardage, and 11th in passing yards per game (308.6).
McCord, a senior from Warren, has 37 receptions for 570 yards on the season. He shares the team lead with five touchdown receptions and averages 15.4 yards per catch. His 570 yards ranks ninth nationally among all tight ends.
McCord's 83-yard TD grab against Monmouth in the second game of the season is the Chippewas' longest play from scrimmage this season. His 10-catch effort against Syracuse was a record for a Chippewa tight end.
Eavey, a junior from Grand Ledge, is a perfect 36-for-36 on extra-point kicks and is 16-for-24 on field goal attempts. He has made 66.7 percent of his field goal tries, which ranks second in the league. He leads CMU in scoring with 84 points.
Eavey kicked a career-long 48-yarder against Toledo and is a perfect 11-for-11 on kicks from 39 yards and in.
Frazier, a senior from Grand Rapids, leads the Chippewas and ranks ninth in the MAC with 103 tackles. His 69 solo tackles rank second in the league. He has made 4.5 tackles-for-a-loss, recorded one interception and four pass breakups, forced two fumbles, recovered one, and blocked a punt.
Serpa, a senior from Sugar Grove, Ill., has recorded 35 tackles including 23 unassisted. He leads the Chippewas with 9.5 tackles-for-a-loss including a team-high three sacks.
Serpa has forced two fumbles, recovered one, broken up two passes, and recorded a team-best four quarterback hurries.
Kroll, a senior from Algoma, Wis., is the Chippewas' top receiver with 59 catches for 856 yards. He has caught four TD passes and averages 14.5 yards per catch. His 856 yards rank eighth in the league.
Ahmeti, who hails from Lansing, is a 6-7, 294-pound senior who battled injuries but still drew nine starts at left tackle.
