CLEARWATER, Fla. - Big bats and solid pitching lifted the Central Michigan softball team to a pair of victories Saturday in the South Florida Under Armour Invitational.
The Chippewas collected 17 hits including a pair of home runs in defeating Boston College, 2-0; and Wisconsin, 3-0. CMU (4-9) closes the tournament Sunday morning against Pennsylvania (1-3).
Sophomore Racheal Knapp and freshman Hanna Warren threw a pair of gems and received solid support from the defense as the Chippewas committed just one error on the day.
Knapp struck out seven in firing a two-hitter against Boston College (14-8). Warren allowed five hits and struck our two in earning the victory over Wisconsin (8-12).
Freshman Lacy Tolfree led the Chippewas with three hits and two RBIs against the Eagles, while Trista Cox added a pair of hits. Among Tolfree's hits was a seventh-inning two-run triple that accounted for all the scoring.
Sophomore Kristen Goodall ripped a two-run home run in the first inning against Wisconsin, and junior Chelsea DeLamielleure added a solo shot in the fourth.
DeLamielleure finished with three hits and Goodall had two.
