Chippewas Can't Capitalize, Fall to Penn

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Central Michigan outhit Penn, 5-4, but stranded seven runners Sunday as the Quakers handed the Chippewas a 1-0 loss in the South Florida Under Armour Invitational.
CMU (4-10) finished the weekend 2-3. The Chippewas are scheduled to play on Wednesday, March 11, against Maine in Clearwater.
Freshman Lacy Tolfree and Sara Hansen had two hits apiece to lead CMU at the plate.
Freshman Taylor Weaver took the loss. She struck out three.
Penn used two singles and a Chippewa error to score the game's only run in the first inning.
Penn's Alexis Borden struck out 11 and walked two for the victory.
