Rentschler, Knapp Named All-Great Lakes

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan's Katelyn Rentschler and Rachael Knapp were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Great Lakes Region Third Team.
Rentschler, a junior first baseman, earned the Mid-American Conference Player of the Year Award in 2015 and finished the season with a .326 batting average, 10 home runs, 36 RBI and a .601 slugging percentage.
She led the Chippewas in all three power categories and ranked fourth in the MAC in homers, sixth in slugging, and eighth in RBI.
Knapp, a sophomore right-handed pitcher, went 17-12 on the season with a 2.00 earned run average. In 206 2/3 innings pitched covering 37 appearances, she allowed 59 earned runs on 144 hits, walked 67 and struck out 219.
She held opposing hitters to a .193 batting average and recorded seven shutouts. Her win total ranked fourth in the MAC and she led the league with four saves.
Rentschler was named to the All-MAC First Team, while Knapp earned a spot on the Second Team.
Rentschler and Knapp are two of 371 players nationwide to be named to the NFCA Division I All-Region squads. The organization divides the nation into 10 regions and names a first, second and third team from each region.
