MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Central Michigan student-athlete Kylee Dobbelaere will get an opportunity this weekend to explore her career path at the NCAA Career in Sports Forum in Indianapolis.
Dobbelaere was selected to attend the prestigious event, which will enable the sports management major to explore her chosen career path and make important contacts within the business.
"There will be 200 student-athletes there, and it'll be fun and informative to meet student-athletes from other schools," said Dobbelaere, a sophomore from Marlette and a member of the CMU women's track and field team. "I'm excited about networking. I think it'll provide a lot of opportunities for the future, help me get my name out there, explore the field.
"Hopefully I can bring back information for other people in my major and encourage others to apply for next year."
The attendees represent colleges and universities from across the country and are pursuing careers in athletics, and were viewed as leaders on their respective campuses. Dobbelaere was among those invited to apply to attend the forum after a nomination by CMU athletic administrators.
Many current and past attendees are members of their Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), the student-athlete voice within the NCAA governance structure.
The event provides student-athletes with a broader scope of the career tracks available within the sports business, with the primary focus on college athletics, and interactive experiences with successful individuals in the sports business and a peek into their day-to-day duties and responsibilities
Forum attendees will hear from keynote speakers and panelists, highlighted by NCAA President Mark Emmert.
