Trio of Chippewas on Freshman All-American Team

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -- Three Central Michigan baseball players have been named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball.
CMU's Sean Martens, Zach McKinstry and Daniel Jipping were named to the team, which comprises 118 players representing NCAA Division I universities from across the nation.
Martens, a right-handed relief pitcher from Clarkston, posted a 6-1 record with a 3.22 earned run average this season. He struck out 29 and walked 19 in 44 2/3 innings.
McKinstry, who hails from Fort Wayne, Ind., started 56 of CMU's 57 games at shortstop and was second on the team with a .317 batting average. He had four doubles and three triples, scored 35 runs, drove in 19, and was named Second Team All-Mid-American Conference.
Jipping, a Canton native who was named to the squad as a designated hitter, earned First Team All-MAC honors after hitting .281 with six home runs and 40 RBI. Jipping led the Chippewas in homers and was second in RBI.
