Central Michigan senior Nick Beamish has been nominated for the 2015 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team.
Beamish, a center from Riverview, is one of 197 college football players from across the nation so selected for their charitable involvement, community service contributions, volunteerism and leadership among their peers.
The final roster of 22 award recipients will be unveiled in September.
Beamish, a center who has started every game of his Chippewa career, has been involved in several charitable volunteer efforts during his time at Central Michigan.
He has served annually as a volunteer group leader for Special Olympics since his arrival on campus in 2012, he has also volunteered with the Community Compassion Network, various youth football programs including the Hall of Fame Football camp in Riverview, and with area schools' reading and physical activity programs.
The Good Works Team, established in 1992, is intended to pay tribute to the "good" in college football that extends beyond the wins and the losses.
Beamish earned First Team All-Mid-American Conference honors last season and was recently named to the Rimington Trophy Watch List for the second consecutive year. The Rimington goes to the best center in college football.
