CMU's Conklin Earns Honorable Mention

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Tyler Conklin received honorable mention from the Friends of John Mackey, which each week selects the John Mackey Tight End of the Week.
Conklin caught a 25-yard pass from quarterback Cooper Rush for the game-winning touchdown in the third overtime on Saturday in CMU's 34-28 victory at Northern Illinois.
Conklin finished the game with three catches for 38 yards. Conklin, a 6-foot-4, 240-pund junior from Chesterfield Township, has made 25 catches for 355 yards and three TDs this season. He ranks seventh nationally among all tight ends in receiving yardage and eighth in receptions.
Conklin captured the weekly Mackey award the Chippewas' 30-27 upset at No. 22 Oklahoma State in the second game of the season. Conklin had seven catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns - all career-highs - in the victory.
He was named last week to the John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List. The Award annually goes to the top tight end in college football.
Toledo's Michael Roberts earned the weekly Mackey award after making six catches, three for touchdowns, for 94 yards in a 42-35 victory over Bowling Green.
The Chippewas (5-2 overall, 2-1 MAC) play at Toledo (5-1, 2-0) on Saturday at noon.
