MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team lost their Senior Day game, 8-0, in a non-conference matchup against No. 10-ranked Northwestern on Sunday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.
The Chippewas (1-16) were outshot 36-9 and managed one shot on goal. The Wildcats (11-6) also held a 13-3 edge in corners.
"We have to look at the positive things that come out of it, we gave up fewer penalty corners in the second half, we produced more shots than we did in the previous match, so we did some nice things." CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "We just have to add some elements to our game and those two things are a passing game and playing more aggressive defense."
Lily Amadio and Abigail Ebersole split time in goal for the Chippewas. Amadio made a career-high 15 saves.
CMU seniors Olivia Wagner and Maude Stalars were honored in a pregame ceremony, for all their accomplishments in each of their careers. Stalars was also a small bright spot for the Chippewas as she was credited with a defensive save.
Central Michigan will close its season on Friday, Oct. 28, at 2 p.m. at home against MAC opponent Ball State (7-9 overall, 2-2 MAC).
