MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The 162-game Major League Baseball regular season came to an end Sunday, officially concluding the professional baseball season for 12 Central Michigan alumni playing in the professional ranks
Josh Collmenter, a right-handed pitcher who played for CMU from 2005-07, just finished his sixth season in the majors. He was released by the Arizona Diamondbacks in early August, signed with the Chicago Cubs, and was sent to the Atlanta Braves for cash on Sept. 15.
He finished the season a 3-0 with a 3.70 ERA and 33 strikeouts, pitching primarily out of the bullpen for the Braves
Collmenter, who has spent the majority of a career as a starter for the Diamondbacks, was Arizona's opening day starter in 2015. He is 38-33 with a 3.50 earned run average and 476 strikeouts in his career.
Collmenter holds the CMU record for career strikeouts with 288 and is fourth in wins with 24.
• Dietrich Enns, a left-handed pitcher finished the season 14-4 with 1.73 ERA splitting time between double-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and triple-A Trenton in the New York Yankees Farm system.
In 135 innings, Enns struck out 124, walked 56 and allowed 102 hits and held opposing batters to a .215 batting average. Enns played at CMU from 2010-12.
• Jordan Foley, a right-handed pitcher, finished 4-0 with a 3.03 ERA pitching with the high A Tampa Yankees, a New York Yankees affiliate. In 65 1/3 innings, Foley struck out 88, walked 33, allowed 51 hits, and held opposing batters to a .213 average. Foley played at CMU from 2012-14.
• Zach McKinstry, a second basemen, hit .252 while splitting time with the Arizona Rookie League Dodgers and the single-A Great Lakes Loons in the Los Angeles Dodgers farm system. In 159 at-bats, McKinstry finished with 40 hits, 15 walks and 14 RBI. McKinstry played at CMU from 2015-16.
• Left-hander Nick Deeg finished the season 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA pitching for the San Francisco Giants rookie affiliate in the Arizona League. In 19 2/3 innings, Deeg struck out 19, walked seven, surrendered 23 hits and held opposing batters to a .288 average. Deeg played at CMU from 2014-16.
• Sean Renzi, a right-handed pitcher, finished the season 1-1 with a 4.72 ERA pitching for the Chicago White Sox rookie affiliate in the Arizona League. Renzi struck out 29, walked seven, gave up 17 hits and held batters to a .258 average in 26 innings of work. Renzi played at CMU from 2012-16.
• Matt Trowbridge, a left-handed pitcher, finished the season with a 13.50 ERA and two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings in four appearances for the single-A Gulf Coast League Orioles. Trowbridge played at CMU from 2012-14.
• Bryce Morrow, a right-handed pitcher, went 4-2 with a 4.55 ERA for the independent Somerset (N.J.) Patriots. In 27 2/3 innings, he struck out 21, walked three and gave up 32 hits. Morrow played at CMU from 2007-08 and 2010-11.
• Zach Cooper, a right-handed pitcher, finished the season 0-1 with a 10.12 ERA pitching for the independent Southern Illinois Miners. In 10 2/3 innings, Cooper struck out nine, walked 13 and gave up 15 hits. Cooper played at CMU from 2009-12.
• Dylan Rheault, a right-handed pitcher, went 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA with the Winnipeg Goldeyes and Sioux City Explorers, both of which are independent teams. In 45 1/3 innings, Rheault struck out 24, walked 28 and gave up 53 hits. Rheault played at CMU from 2012-13.
• Jordan Dean, a second baseman, hit .256 while for the Schaumburg (Ill.) Boomers. He had three home runs and 38 RBI. He played at CMU from 2010-12.
• Connor Kelly, a right-handed pitcher, finished the season 2-1 with a 3.73 ERA pitching for the Garden City (Kan.) Wind. In 41 innings, Kelly struck out 38, walked 14 and gave up 35 hits. Kelly played at CMU in 2015-16.
