Chippewas Fall at West-leading NIU

DeKALB, Ill. — The Central Michigan volleyball team finished its weekend Mid-American Conference road trip winless after falling, 3-1, to Northern Illinois on Saturday night
The Chippewas, who were swept by Western Michigan on Friday, fall to 9-17 overall with a 3-11 mark in the conference. The Huskies move to 21-5, 13-1.
CMU showed fight against MAC West-leading NIU early, taking the opening set 25-23. The Huskies answered with wins in three straight sets, 25-21, 25-15 and 25-15 to claim the match.
Junior outside hitter Jordan Bueter led the Chippewas attack with 18 kills. Laura Wilson added 13 kills on a team-high .265 hitting percentage.
CMU setters Kathia Sanchez and Kelli Combs finished with 23 and 18 assists respectively.
Freshman libero Megan Kern led the Chippewa defense with 17 digs. Middle blockers Jayla Wesley and Paige Carey each tallied four blocks in the loss.
The Chippewas finished the match with just a .137 hitting percentage compared the .222 posted by NIU. CMU committed a season-high 28 attack errors in the match.
Meg Wolowicz led the Huskies offense with 13 kills.
The Chippewas will return to action next week as they close the regular season with a Thursday, Nov.10, match at Eastern Michigan (8-19, 3-11) followed by a matchup with Ohio (14-12, 10-4) at home on Saturday, Nov.12. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.
