Chippewas Fall in 3 at Western

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Central Michigan volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep by rival Western Michigan Friday night in a Mid-American Conference matchup at Western's University Arena.
The Chippewas, who have dropped seven of their last eight games, are 19-16 overall with a 3-10 mark in the league. The Broncos are 9-17, 4-9.
CMU fell 25-19, 25-18 and 25-12 in their 12th straight-set loss of the season.
Senior Kathia Sanchez led the CMU offense with 10 kills and a .444 hitting percentage to go along with 15 assists from the setter position.
Outside hitters Jordan Bueter and Laura Willson finished with eight kills each.
Freshman libero Megan Kern finished with nine digs to lead CMU defensively.
The Chippewas finished the match with just a .152 hitting percentage compared the .419 posted by the Broncos.
Olivia Kofie and Bailey Schnell led the WMU with nine kills each. Alysia Banzik and Sydney LeMay added eight kills.
The Chippewas finish their weekend road trip on Saturday (8 p.m.) at Northern Illinois (20-5, 12-1). NIU, which leads the West Division, defeated Eastern Michigan (8-18, 3-10) in straight sets on Friday.
