CMU Announces 2016 Football Schedule

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Mid-American Conference announced the complete 2016 football schedule on Monday and Central Michigan will begin the MAC schedule with its biggest rival.
CMU opens conference play against Western Michigan on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Chippewas have won six of the last nine meetings with WMU while the Broncos have been victorious the last two seasons.
Homecoming for the Chippewas comes a week later as CMU hosts Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 8. CMU heads to fellow 2015 MAC West Division co-champions NIU (Oct. 15) and Toledo (Oct. 22). The next two weeks before wrapping up October with a home game against Kent State (Oct. 29).
A trio of possible national TV games highlight the schedule in November. Central Michigan heads to Miami on Friday, Nov. 4, for a game on CBS Sports Network. CMU’s home finale will be against Ohio on Tuesday, Nov. 15, on ESPN2 or ESPNU. The regular season ends at Eastern Michigan on Tuesday, Nov. 22, on ESPNU or ESPN3.
The MAC Championship game will take place at Ford Field on Friday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Maroon and Gold begin head coach John Bonamego’s second season against Presbyterian on Thursday, Sept. 1. This is the first meeting between these two teams. CMU’s other non-conference home game is versus UNLV on Saturday, Sept. 17.
For the 13th-straight season CMU will play at least two games against Power 5 opponents. The Chippewas travel to Oklahoma State on Saturday, Sept. 10, and to Virginia on Sept. 24. This is the first time since 1997 that CMU will not play a Big Ten squad.
Season ticket renewals start soon with new season tickets on sale on April 1. Single game tickets go on sale on June 3.
Game times for the first three weeks of the season will be released in June. All other times and will be announced 12 days prior to the scheduled game.
