MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan baseball and softball teams will hit their respective home diamonds on Tuesday for the first time in 2016.
The CMU softball team is scheduled to entertain Valparaiso at Margo Jonker Stadium at 2 p.m. The Chippewa baseball team welcomes Bowling Green to Theunissen Stadium at 3:05 p.m.
The Chippewa softball team is 11-12 and will be in action for the first time since its Spring Break trip to Florida, where it went 7-6 and won four of its last six games. Valparaiso is 3-15.
CMU is scheduled to go to Kent State this weekend for its Mid-American Conference-opening series. The Chippewas and Golden Flashes are slated to play a game at 3 p.m. on Friday and a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
CMU softball's next home game is scheduled for April 1 against MAC foe Akron.
The Chippewa baseball team is 4-15 and coming off a three-game sweep at the hands of Xavier. Bowling Green is 7-13. Although both teams are members of the Mid-American Conference, the game does not count in the league standings.
The Chippewas defeated the Falcons, 10-5, a week ago in Ohio.
CMU is scheduled to play a non-league game on Wednesday at Michigan State, and is slated to open MAC play at home this weekend with a three-game series against Kent State.
