
CMU Goes To Bowling Green For Weekend Series

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Central Michigan softball team will travel to Bowling Green this weekend for a three-game Mid-American Conference series at Mesrve Field.
The Chippewas (15-18-1 overall, 2-5-1 in the MAC) will play the Falcons (14-23, 2-6) in a doubleheader on Friday at noon. Game 3 is slated for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday. Friday's opener will be carried live on ESPN3.
Coming off a spilt in last Tuesday's MAC doubleheader with Western Michigan, CMU will look to gain some ground in the conference standings as it sits in last place in the West Division.
BG enters play having lost eight of its last 10 games and holds the last place spot in the MAC East standings.
The Chippewas rank third in the MAC with a .297 team batting average and are fourth in slugging percentage (.432).
Bowling Green ranks third in the league in hits (267), runs scored (168) and are fourth in RBI (138).
Sophomore Lacy Tolfree leads CMU and ranks 11th in the MAC in batting average (.361).
CarolAnn Sexauer leads the team and is 10th in MAC in RBI with 26 and shares the team home run lead with Katelyn Rentschler with six.
Sophomore outfielder Sara Hansen is coming off a 4-for-4 performance in the nightcap against WMU, which jolted her average from .263 to .286. Hansen is a perfect 11-of-11 on stolen base attempts on the season, which leads the team.
Rachael Knapp leads the team in the circle with seven wins (against 10 losses) and a 3.17 ERA. Hanna Warren owns a 6-6 record with a 3.73 ERA.
Kayla Gregory leads Bowling Green with a .360 average. Marissa Shook leads the team with 27 RBI and seven home runs.
Kiley Sosby leads the Bowling Green pitching staff with an 8-5 record and a 3.80 ERA.
The Chippewas will play a single game at Western Michigan on Wednesday, April 13, before returning home to face Toledo (8-25, 3-5) in a three-game MAC set at Margo Jonker Stadium April 15-16.
