Three Chippewas Earn MAC Honors

AKRON, Ohio - Three Central Michigan student-athletes were honored by the Mid-American Conference on the eve of the league softball tournament.
The Chippewas' Allison Curtis was named to the All-MAC First Team and the All-Freshman Team, while Maison Kalina and CarolAnn Sexauer were named to the All-MAC Second Team.
The Chippewas (24-25-1) open play in the tournament on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against top-seeded Kent State at Firestone Stadium.
Curtis, an outfielder who hails from Tucson, Ariz., leads the Chipppewas and ranks eighth in the league with a .352 batting average. She also has one home run, 15 RBI and seven doubles, and has amassed a .448 slugging percentage and seven stolen bases in 11 attempts.
Kalina, a sophomore catcher from Midland, is hitting .279 with two homers and 18 RBI. In her last 16 games, Kalina is hitting .383 (18-for-47), raising her season average from .193.
Sexauer, a senior shortstop who is injured and will not play in the tournament, hit .336 with six home runs and 32 RBI and a team-best .586 slugging percentage.
