MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
Rush, a senior from Charlotte, led the Chippewas to a 30-27 upset of No. 22-ranked Oklahoma State on Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.
He completed 30 of 42 pass attempts for 361 yards and four touchdowns. His final dramatic pass of the day, a 51-yard Hail Mary with no time remaining, went for the winning touchdown.
Rush, who earlier this week was named the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week, ranks second all-time in CMU history with 9,952 yards.
It marks the fifth individual award for a Chippewa in the wake of Saturday's win. Cornerback Josh Cox was named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week; Tyler Conklin earned the Mackey Award as the top performing tight end of the weekend; and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Morris Watts received the Quarterbacks Coach of the Week from CoachSearch.com.
The Chippewas (2-0) play host to UNLV (1-1) on Saturday (3 p.m.) at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
