MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped its Mid-American Conference opener to Miami (Ohio), 6-0, Friday at the Central Michigan Field Hockey Complex.
The Redhawks (4-5 overall, 1-0 MAC) scored five second-half goals and outshot the Chippewas, 23-6, in the game. Central Michigan is 1-7 and entertains Indiana in a non-conference game Sunday at noon. The Hoosiers (4-4) played Rutgers Friday afternoon in a Big Ten game.
Central's Kayla McClure registered two defensive saves on the day. CMU had two shots on goal, one each by Maude Stalars and Jasmine Banks.
Abigail Ebersole and Lily Amadio split the game in goal for CMU. Each allowed three goals.
Carla Romagosa scored three goals to lead Miami. The Chippewas have been outscored, 28-1, in their last four games.
"Something's got to change," second-year CMU coach Molly Pelowski said. "We'll figure it out, we'll go back and watch the video and put the team together. We have the pieces, we just have to put them together for 70 minutes."
CMU returns to MAC action on Friday, Sept. 30, at Ohio.
