CMU Field Hockey Hits the Road

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — The Central Michigan field hockey team will head to Ohio this weekend for a two-game Mid-American Conference road trip.
The Chippewas (1-8 overall, 0-1 in the MAC) will play Ohio (3-6, 0-0) on Friday in Athens at 5 p.m. followed by a matchup with Kent State (6-4, 2-0) on Sunday (noon) in Kent.
The Chippewas dropped their MAC opener at home last weekend to Miami (Ohio), 6-0. On Sunday, CMU fell to Indiana in a non-league game, 6-1.
Ohio ranks fourth in the league in goals scored with 19. Kent State is third at 22.
Ohio's Kendall Ballard ranks fourth in the MAC in goals with seven. Kent State's Alison Harmatz is sixth with six goals.
Junior forward Emily Barber leads CMU with two goals this season.
After this weekend, CMU will remain on the road for two non-conference games Oct. 7-8 in Iowa City, Iowa. The Chippewas will play the 18th-ranked Hawkeyes (6-4) on Oct. 7 and UC Davis (3-6) on Oct. 8.
