MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Senior Maude Stalars scored four minutes into the overtime period, lifting the Central Michigan field goal hockey team to a 2-1 victory Saturday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.
It was the first win of the season for the Chippewas (1-3).
"In overtime we just played our game," second-year Chippewa coach Molly Pelowski said. "Our game today had to do with passing and discipline on defense and our girls stuck to the process and I'm very proud of the way they played today."
Quinnipiac (0-3) outshot the Chippewas, 20-13. CMU freshman goalkeeper Abigail Ebersole made 11 saves in just her second collegiate start.
CMU freshman Jasmine Banks scored her first career goal, unassisted, in the 32nd minute to tie the game at 1-1. Savanna Reilley had given the Bobcats a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 26th minute.
Alex Gonda picked up the assist for the Chippewas.
CMU plays host to Louisville on Friday, Sept. 9 (3 p.m).
