Chippewas Welcome Defending MAC Champs

• The Chippewas opened MAC competition last weekend, posting a 194.950-192.900 victory at Western Michigan.
• CMU is ranked 37th nationally, with an average score of 193.513 through two meets. Eastern Michigan is ranked 41st (193.388).
• CMU's highest ranking is 23rd in floor, where it is averaging 48.775. Eastern's highest ranking is on bars, where it averages 49.025.
• Chippewa freshman Denelle Pedrick captured the all-around in the win over Western Michigan with a 39.050. The Chippewas also got victories from Katy Clements (beam), Gianna Plaksa (floor) and Bryttany Kaplan (bars).
• The Eagles defeated Rutgers in a nonconference meet last weekend, posting a 194.725 score, the third time this season they have recorded that total.
• Eastern's Kendall Valentin won bars with a 9.900 in the meet. Eastern took three of the top four spots in the event. Valentin was named the MAC Specialist of the Week this week.
• Eastern Michigan is the defending MAC champion. The Eagles' first-place finish at the MAC Championships last March was the second league crown in program history.
