OXFORD, Ohio - The Central Michigan volleyball dropped a 3-1 Mid-American Conference decision to Miami (Ohio) on Friday at the RedHawks' Millett Hall.
The Chippewas slipped to 10-9, 2-5 MAC. The RedHawks are 13-7, 5-2. CMU will look to bounce back when it travels to Bowling Green (10-8, 6-1) on Saturday (7 p.m.).
CMU took set one 25-23, but fell in the final three sets, 25-19, 25-13, 25-20.
"Volleyball is interesting in the sense that you get to kind of start over," CMU coach Mike Gawlik said. "We lost the third set by quite a few, but we had a fresh start in set four. We put ourselves in a position to competitive but we need to make more plays down the stretch."
Jordan Bueter led the Chippewas with 14 kills, while Taylor Robertson added 11 on a .261 hitting percentage. Megan Kern tallied 17 digs and Bueter added 14. CMU setter Grace Butler finished with 41 assists.
"Offensively, the seniors found opportunities offensively to kill the ball," said Gawlik. "You need four or five attackers on deck against a team like Miami. That's where some nights, you're going to find success, but you have to bring more to the plate to match up against a team like Miami."
Taylor Daignault recorded 14 kills to lead the RedHawks. Margaret Payne posted a .571 hitting percentage while tallying 13 kills.
Miami, which has won four consecutive matches, had the edge in attack percentage, .319, to Central Michigan's .168.
