Field Hockey Falls At Home To Appalachian State

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan field hockey team dropped a 2-0 Mid-American Conference decision to Appalachian State on Saturday at the CMU Field Hockey Complex.
The Chippewas (0-12, 0-3 MAC) will have another chance against the Mountaineers (5-8, 2-3) in a Sunday (noon) rematch. Sunday's games will not count in the league standings.
"We live and die by our execution," CMU coach Molly Pelowski said."We played a very good App State team - we knew they were going to be fast and physical. We had some opportunities throughout the match so I'm pleased with our improvements on offense, but we have to execute in the circle."
Ali Williams broke the ice for Appalachian State with a goal at the 42:30 mark with a deflection off of a goalie save. Melissa Noble added an insurance goal in the 57th minute.
Central Michigan had nine shots, seven of came in the second half. Appalachian State tallied 13 shots.
Emily Barber led the Chippewas in shots with four while senior Alex Gonda recorded three, two of which were on goal.
Goalkeeper Lily Amadio made five saves for CMU while Rachel Gaines made four for Appalachian State.
