Ostman Earns Prestigious MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan's Joe Ostman was named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week.
A senior defensive end from Mackinaw City, Ostman carries a 3.68 grade point average as a general management major. In the Chippewas' 31-24 victory last week over Northern Illinois, Ostman spearheaded a defense that shut down the Huskies in the second half as the Chippewas won their fifth consecutive game.
Ostman made seven tackles including two tackles-for-loss and recorded his 12th sack of the season. Ostman is tied for the national lead among players on Football Bowl Subdivision teams with 1.2 sacks per game.
