Nine Chippewas Earn Academic All-MAC

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Nine Central Michigan student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference field hockey team.
To be eligible for Academic All-MAC, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and have participate in 50 percent of the team's contests.
Junior Leah Umberger, who is an exercise science: kinesiology major and led the team with a 3.96 grade point average, earned the honor for the second consecutive year. Sophomore Georgina Minta is a law and economics major with a 3.94 GPA.
Five other Chippewas were named to the squad for the second consecutive year, including Lily Amadio, junior, 3.34, neuroscience; Carly Brengosz, senior, 3.59, exercise science: kinesiology; Anna Forry, junior, 3.46, interior design; and Kayla McClure, junior, 3.81, environmental health and safety.
Other CMU student-athletes who have been named to the academic honor squad for the first time are Emily Barber, senior, 3.54, entrepreneurship; Kady Gurtis, junior, 3.25, exercise science: health fitness; and Addy Marshall, senior, 3.45, communication.
