Chippewas Fall In 10

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Christian Bailey's two-out bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted East Tennessee State to a 7-6 victory over the Central Michigan baseball team on Sunday at the Buccaneers' Thomas Stadium.
The Buccaneers won the series, 2-1. The Chippweas (1-2) begin a four-game series against Incarnate Word on Friday, Feb. 24, in San Antonio, Texas.
CMU led, 6-5, entering the bottom of the ninth when the Buccaneers used a single, a walk and an infield single to push across the tying run against Chippewa closer Jordan Grosjean.
In the 10th, ETSU got three hits and a walk in scoring the winning run.
Grosjean (0-1) took the loss. He allowed two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out two over 1 2/3 innings.
Dazon Cole started for CMU and went 4 2/3 innings. He allowed five runs on eight hits, walked three and struck out two. Sean Martens and Tyler Hankins pitched in relief.
Daniel Jipping and Robert Greenman each had three hits including a double and drove in a run to lead CMU at the plate. Alex Borglin singled and doubled, Zach Gilles had two hits, and Jason Sullivan drove in two runs.
The Chippewas broke a 5-5 tie with a run in the top of the ninth on David Cole's bases-loaded groundout.
Peyton Taylor, the third ETSU pitcher, earned the win.
