Chippewas Fall At Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan collected 15 hits off of five Central Michigan pitchers on Wednesday in handing the Chippewas a 13-4 nonconference baseball loss at Ray Fisher Stadium.
The Chippewas (10-14) are scheduled to play Miami (Ohio) at home this weekend in their Mid-American Conference-opening series. Game 1 is scheduled for Friday (3:05 p.m.) at Theunissen Stadium.
Michigan (18-6) seized a 5-0 lead after two innings on Wednesday and blew the game open with a seven-run seventh.
Zach Gilles had two hits and Robert Greenman doubled to lead the Chippewas, who finished with eight hits.
Gilles, Daniel Jipping, Dazon Cole, and Greenman had one RBI apiece.
Freshman right-hander Zach Kohn (0-3) started for CMU and took the loss. He allowed six runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three and walked two.
Jake Raether, Braxton Markle, Jordan Grosjean, and Jack Collins pitched in relief for the Chippewas.
Drew Lugbauer had three hits, including a two-run homer, to lead the Wolverines.
Michigan starter Alec Rennard (4-1) went four innings, allowing three hits and striking out three for the victory.
