AVON, Ohio - Five Central Michigan student-athletes were named on Tuesday to the All-Mid-American Conference baseball team on the eve of the league tournament at Sprenger Stadium.
CMU's Robert Greenman and Daniel Jipping were named to the All-MAC First Team, while Tyler Hankins, Pat Leatherman and Colton Bradley were named to the second team.
The Chippewas, who won the MAC West and are the second seed in the tournament, open on Wednesday (1 p.m.) against seventh-seeded Northern Illinois.
Hankins was also named the MAC Freshman Pitcher of the Year, the first Chippewa to earn the honor, which began in 2014.
Greenman, a senior from Shelbyville, has enjoyed a breakout season with nine home runs and 38 RBI, both career-highs. He is hitting .263.
It is the third time that Jipping, a junior from Canton, has earned all-conference honors. He was named First Team All-MAC as a freshman in 2015, and last season earned a second-team nod.
Jipping, an outfielder who earned the at-large spot on the all-league squad, leads CMU with 11 home runs and 57 RBI. He ranks second in the league in RBI and hits (57), and is tied for fourth with 45 runs.
Hankins, a left-hander from Bartlett, Ill., is 5-1 with a 3.65 earned run average. In 14 appearances, 13 of them starts, he has a team-high two complete games. He has logged 86 1/3 innings, which ranks third in the MAC, and struck out 50 while walking 24.
Leatherman, a sophomore right-hander from Jenison, is 6-4 with a 4.08 ERA. In 14 appearances, he has logged 79 1/3 innings and ranks fourth in the league with 72 strikeouts.
Bradley, a junior from Augusta, ranks second in the MAC with 10 saves, which ties David LeMieux for the second most in a single season in program history. Bradley is 6-1 with a 3.65 ERA. In 44 1/3 innings over 26 appearances, all in relief, he has struck out 38.
Bradley, Leatherman and Hankins share the team lead with six wins each.
The first and second teams comprise 15 players representing the league's 11 members.
