SETTNG THE SCENE
The Central Michigan field hockey team will play two games in Virginia this weekend, beginning with the Mid-American Conference opener Longwood on Saturday (1 p.m.) and then a nonconference game with VCU on Sunday (1 p.m.).
LAST WEEK
• The Chippewas (0-7) dropped a 2-0 decision against Yale.
• Coach Molly Pelowski: "We're in a little bit of a crisis of confidence because of the last seven games. The theme that we have been focusing on has really been execution. At this point, it's inches. It's not major changes, just inches. We'll get there.
"We hold our athletes accountable and to a high standard in practice. We draw confidence from experiences that we've had in training sessions. I credit our leadership for keeping the team together and keeping the team motivated. They've done a nice job of responding and taking care of the people on our team. We do it together."
NUMBERS
• CMU goalkeeper Lily Amadio has tallied 23 saves this season, 13 of which were against the Bulldogs.
