CMU's Plaksa Earns MAC Honor

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Central Michigan junior Gianna Plaksa has been named the Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week for gymnastics.

Plaksa, who hails from Mountain Top, Pa., posted a career-best 9.875 in winning bars in the Chippewas' MAC-opening dual-meet victory at Eastern Michigan on Saturday.

Plaksa also finished second on floor with a 9.825 score.

The Chippewas are 2-0 and ranked 14th nationally with a 195.450 average team score through two meets. They entertain Western Michigan on Saturday (2 p.m.) in a MAC dual.
